Paul Our Story The Rhythm Section Jazz Band was formed in June of 2002 for the purpose of reading through the Paul Sherwood Chart Library. This is a collection of over 2,500 arrangements for jazz band, big band, dance orchestras and theater orchestras. This is a 'Little Big Band' and has 10 musicians as follows: alto sax, tenor sax, alto sax, trombone, trumpet, piano, guitar, bass, drums and singer The band has held over 55 recording sessions and has evolved into live entertainment playing engagements in Michigan, Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Battle Creek, Muskegon, Lansing, Otsego, Gaylord, Rockford, Lowell, Sagatuck, Holland, Ludington, Mount Pleasant, Freemont, Traverse City, Detroit, Ann Arbor, and will go wherever live jazz is needed. Well, these hard-singing, hard-playing rock and soulsters have been walking the walk since they began performing at junior high school proms. They�ve called the Maryland suburbs home and built a solid reputation as a group that delivers a solid sound every time out. Members of The Doubletake Band perform a wide variety of music that brings back the good old days when even AM radio played �the good stuff.� Growing up in the 1960s, they were introduced to a wealth of musical influences�rock, soul, country and blues. David David is a master of the piano who plays many different styles of music. He studied classical music for years, fell in love with jazz at an early age, and grew up listening to rock and roll; so these are his influences. He loves to perform, and likes to play requests. He has a large and varied repetiore, and plays popular favorites that reach many different age groups. Just when you think you've got his style pegged, he plays something totally different. But no matter what he plays, he plays it with heart. Raised in Wilmington, Delaware, he then went to Shenandoah Conservatory of Music where he earned a degree in Music Composition, summa cum laude. After college he travelled on the road with several different bands before settling around Atlantic City and playing in the casinos for 12 years. He moved back to Wilmington, and has been performing solo and with various singers in local restaurants and clubs, while continuing a career as Musical Director and Accompanist of musicals and shows.
